Ettrick - Matoaca Volunteer Rescue Squad, South Chesterfield VA
Ettrick-Matoaca Volunteer Rescue Squad is a nonprofit (501 (c) 3) organization located at 5711 River Road, South Chesterfield VA primarily servicing Southern Chesterfield County. We provide first aide, basic life support and advanced life support emergency services dispatched through the Chesterfield Emergency Communications Center (ECC). Our squad is staffed with volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) supported by donations from community members and supporters with ambulances in service to respond to 911 calls 24/7, 365 a year excluding Sundays from 8 am to 6 pm.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Our BLS providers are the foundation of the squad, providing initial assessment and treatment of both minor and major injuries and illnesses, providing CPR, immobilization of fractures, control of bleeding and medication administration to treat breathing difficulty, diabetic emergencies and chest pain.
Advanced Life Support (ALS)
ALS providers build upon the BLS treatments, providing intravenous access, cardiac monitoring and medication administration. EVOCs (members certified in Emergency Vehicle Operations) are the transportation arm of the squad, having been educated in defensive driving skills and in assistance with direct patient care.
Our commitment to the community is to provide the BEST level of emergency medical care and this commitment requires people, training, equipment, and needless to say, financial support from our community. Although a portion of our operating funds come from billed services for transport, your donations are still critical to our organization.
